Nursery RE

In our Nursery, Religious Education (RE) introduces young children to foundational Christian values through interactive storytelling, sensory exploration, and gentle reflection tailored to early development. Our curriculum is structured around six termly themes—Love, Christmas, Faith, Easter, Respect, and Thankfulness, allowing children to explore key Bible stories and link them to their everyday experiences.

Learning Through Play and Storytelling

2–3 Year Old Room Year Overview

Early learning focuses on tactile, sensory play and simple physical actions. Children explore stories like the Good Samaritan, Noah's Ark, and the Lost Sheep through activities such as bandaging teddy bears, handling soft fabrics, making rain sounds, and searching for hidden toy sheep

3–4 Year Old Room Year overview

As children develop, learning shifts toward creative expression, guided discussion, and role-play. Children re-enact stories like Palm Sunday and Daniel in the Lions' Den, complete blindfold trust walks, paint rainbows, and design class rules to link stories directly to personal choices.

Developmental Progression Across Nursery

Love (Autumn 1): Children progress from demonstrating basic acts of kindness to understanding love as a shared value.

Christmas (Autumn 2): Learning advances from exploring shiny sensory objects and baby dolls to understanding the Christmas story and celebrating Jesus' birth.

Faith (Spring 1): Children move from experiencing physical concepts like listening and bravery to discussing trust and courage.

Easter (Spring 2): Instruction transitions from exploring symbols like eggs and crosses to understanding story sequences and simple theological meaning.

Respect (Summer 1): Children develop from practicing behavioral rules like using "kind hands" to understanding conceptual respect and positive decision-making.

Thankfulness (Summer 2): Learning grows from practicing basic "thank you" actions to expressing meaningful gratitude and appreciation for others.
